Edmund chose to ignore that. Who did she think he was? A kid? He was at the very least a thousand years older than him. Yet here she was, addressing him without the tiniest bit of respect. Even with his 'normal' time-line back in England he was still older than her, though he would have been just a few years older. Didn't that mean she didn't have the right to address him like that. Wasn't she afraid of anything or anyone? The answer to that question, intrigued him quite a lot.
"Well come on, or you haven't been deep in the woods alone before?"
Well she was quite confident of herself, now wasn't she? Edmund glared at her, not heartfelt but in a slight complaining sort of way, showing he didn't quite like being talked to that way. Of course he had been deep in the woods before! Countless of times! ... Just not recently.
"Or can't you keep up with me?"
Alright! That was it! He'd had enough of it. Glancing back at her, he watched her take off. She was quick, agility certainly one of her strengths, and she was swift. It seemed to be that this Daphne was telling the truth, for she had soon disappeared from sight, confirming the fact that she was acquainted well enough with the woods. Edmund frowned. The way she moved so differently from any other human seemed to come natural to her. And curiosity tugged on him, yet he pushed his curious self back.
He had to focus on catching up now... but he wasn't about to start leaping branches. He was no animal of any kind. So instead, his legs came to moving forward once more as he headed the way he had seen her disappear to. The pace becoming faster and faster as he sped up, trying his best to take a good look at the trees... she was sure to be there somewhere. Besides, she was his only way back once he got deeper in the woods, and he realized that he was about to depend quite a lot on her.
Stupid Edmund! Had Daphne been of evil kindred, she could just leave him deep in the woods like that... and he'd have no way back. But some instinct told him that Daphne couldn't be anything evil and that he could trust her, ... well, trust her well enough. It didn't take long though before Edmund came to a halt, believing that he was indeed lost and that he'd taken the wrong way. Now what to do? Turning around to inspect the area, a relieved smile spread across his features at the sight of Daphne, seated upon a bough.
"I can keep up with any girl," Edmund scoffed finally. The run had taken little of his energy or breath away, being used to hard training to keep prepared and of course because it was a hobby. His eyes inspected her, awaiting her reaction. Now what was she going to do?[/ul]
